Start with your floors, not the machine. Floor care splits into four jobs, and one machine rarely does all of them well.

Which brand?
Tineco and Dreame each sell several cordless wet-dry cleaners in Australia, direct, through The Good Guys and through their own Amazon stores. Around $500 they are close; the Tineco vs Dreame guide compares them price band by price band. Bissell’s CrossWaves are the corded alternative, and Kärcher’s roller cleaners are the ones whose maker names parquet and stone.
Floors: the rule that saves a floor
Every maker in these guides limits its machines to sealed floors. CHOICE says steam can damage cork and unsealed or waxed timber, and reports that some timber and laminate makers warn steam forced between boards can lead to cupping and delamination. Check your flooring maker’s care instructions and warranty before the first clean, and test a hidden spot.
Electrical safety marks
